The Porsche Taycan – the brand’s first fully production electric vehicle – was introduced back in 2019, meaning it is approaching its fourth anniversary. While it doesn’t look dated, the Taycan’s design can be traced back to around 2015 when the Mission E concept debuted as a preview of the future production EV. Porsche knows the market is growing and is working on a refresh for its zero emission vehicle to keep it fresh for another three or four years in showrooms.
We have new spy photos with the prototype Taycan – nearly 50 spy photos in total – showing the model’s three different body styles. Our spies currently in northern Europe caught a glimpse of the standard Taycan sedan/liftback, Cross Turismo, and Sport Turismo, all sporting minimal camouflage. This isn’t the first time we’ve shared spy photos of the facelifted EV from Stuttgart either.

At this early development stage, it appeared that Porsche would keep styling changes to a minimum. There’s a clever disguise covering the front bumper to make it look slimmer without the air opening, though this won’t be the case when the production version arrives. The headlights also appear unchanged for now, but there may be a change in internal shape or graphics to better match the redesigned front fascia.
Looking back, there are no Porsche or Taycan logos but the rear bumper also hides a few changes with body-colored camouflage. We can’t say for sure if the taillights will be modified, but it’s something to look forward to for a mid-cycle refresh. As a side note, all of the prototypes from the photos have tow hooks attached with orange stickers.
There has been speculation circulating on the internet that the Taycan facelift could feature a new high-performance version. Our spies caught hold of a TDI-badged prototype believed to have a three-motor powertrain with around 1,000 horsepower, but no official word from Stuttgart yet. In any case, we believe the updated Taycan will arrive towards the end of this year as a 2024 model.
