Quadrifoglio is the Italian word for four-leaf clover. In the 1923 Targa Floria, racer Ugo Sivocci put the lucky symbol on his Alfa Romeo RL, and he won the race. That was the start of the relationship between Alfa and Quadrifoglio. The brand intends to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this symbol for motorsport success throughout 2023.
The four-leaf clover also appeared on Alfa Romeo grand prix racers in the 1920s as a way to distinguish the team’s car from the same vehicle of Scuderia Ferrari that sported the Prancing Horse emblem. Later, the Quadrifoglio became the model that won the first two Formula 1 World Championships in 1951 and 1952. In the 1960s, the company began using the logo on sporty road vehicles.

Although not as famous as Quadrifoglio, Alfa Romeo is also commemorating 60 years of Auto Delta. The company built tuned Alfa models and eventually became the automaker’s official racing division. His creations include the 1965 GTA Giulia Sprint and prototypes for racing in events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
As part of the anniversary, Alfa Romeo is introducing new emblems for the Quadrifoglio and Auto Delta (in the gallery above). Both logos indicate the year the respective brands were founded.
The celebrations will include a gathering at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, Milan on March 5 to commemorate the anniversary of Auto Delta. Then, June 25 will be Quadrifoglio Day, including the parade. Beyond these celebrations, it’s unclear whether Alfa intends to do anything else to commemorate the anniversary.

The newest vehicle to sport the Quadrifoglio logo on its fenders is the Giulia SWB (pictured above) in collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagato. It’s a one-of-a-kind vehicle, so don’t expect to see it on the road. The base vehicle is the Giulia Quadrifoglio but with a shorter wheelbase and an overhauled exterior. The design combines elements from the previous Alfa SZ and Giulia TZ in a stylish, sharp coupe. Under the hood, the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 produces 533 horsepower (398 kilowatts) and 600 Newton-meters (442 pound-feet) of torque.
